The Grass Roots Football show is your opportunity to ‘Learn from the Pros’. Find out exactly what it takes to run a winning team, how to put on a great training session and when to make those tactical adjustments that are often the difference between winning and losing a big game.
Here is the line-up for 2011...
Chris Hughton
Former Newcastle Manager Chris Hughton will make his first appearance at this year’s Grass Roots Football Show.
A product of the Tottenham Hotspur youth system, Hughton, played nearly 300 games for Spurs winning 53 caps for the Republic of Ireland.
Coaching was a natural progression for Hughton and when he finished playing in 1993 he became assistant manager at Tottenham and took a similar role with the Republic of Ireland in 2003.
In 2009 Hughton was named as manager of Newcastle United following their relegation from the Premier League and his first season he led the Toon Army to the Championship title in emphatic style, completing the season unbeaten at St James Park.
Eric Harrison
Eric Harrison, McDonald’s National Football Coach is the man responsible for nurturing the greatest youth team in a generation in Europe. When Eric talks about coaching and the development of the game, people listen.
Widely regarded as one of England’s greatest grassroots coaches, Eric has passed on dribbling and passing tips to some of the finest players from David Beckham, Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and the Neville brothers to the former Arsenal striker, John Hartson.
Coaching is Eric’s first love and a subject he’s completely passionate about. In his role for McDonald’s, Eric offers his wealth of experience on all aspects of coaching from advice on training drills to the importance of a balanced lifestyle. Eric has seen and done it all from nurturing Champions League winning players to coaching boys and girls on the McDonald’s National Coaching Tour.
Graham Taylor
Former England manager and Grass Roots Football Show favourite Graham Taylor will be starring once again at this year’s show.
The former Aston Villa, Watford, Wolverhampton Wanderers and Lincoln City manager has been one of the show’s most popular figures and will again be in attendance in his capacity as brand ambassador for Precision Training.
One of England’s most respected managers, Taylor, is one of only a few managers to have won promotion from every division in England and is a keen supporter of the grass roots game.
As well as his imparting his undoubted knowledge of the game on the field Taylor is able to shed light on life in the boardroom having been Chairman of Watford for the past few seasons.
Bill Beswick
Bill is recognised as a leader in the field of applied sports psychology and especially renowned for his work with professional elite football teams. With an academic background to Masters degree level and experience as Head Coach to England Men's Basketball Team (Commonwealth Gold Medal Winners), Bill was ideally placed to become the first sports psychologist operating fully in English professional football.
In 1999 Bill was appointed to the staff of anchester United. Bill worked with coaches, the team and individual players to build mental toughness and competitive edge in an environment where expectations are such that every game is expected to be won. Further appointments followed with Middlesbrough and the English National Team.
Bill is an internationally renowned speaker, providing audiences with masses of thought provoking ideas. His sessions at The Grass Roots Football Show are always standing room only!
Nick Levett
Nick Levett is the FA National Development Manager for Youth and Mini-Soccer with the remit of the role including development of the player pathway for all children, structures and formats of football for the future game.
Nick has spent many years coaching in grassroots clubs and continues to do so, along with helping children in a professional club Academy enjoy and get better at football. Nick previously set up and managed The FA Tesco Skills Programme and continues to try and play on a Saturday afternoon!
Chris Coleman
Chris Coleman will make his debut at the 2011 Grass Roots Football Show.
The former Fulham, Real Sociedad and Coventry City manager has been signed up to give a series of coaching master classes and seminars at this year’s show.
Coleman made over 450 league appearances during his career for Swansea City, Crystal Palace, Blackburn Rovers and Fulham and won 32 caps for Wales.
Coleman joined the Fulham coaching staff following a career ending injury and was elevated from caretaker manager to the permanent position at Craven Cottage becoming the youngest Premier League manager in 2003.
A fully licensed A-class coaching badge holder Chris Coleman is a superb addition to the Grass Roots Football Show.
Iain Dowie
Iain Dowie makes a welcome return to the Grass Roots Football Show in 2011.
Dowie made his debut at last year’s event and was a popular addition to the Grass Roots Football Squad.
Iain has played and managed in the Premier League and also made over 50 appearances for Northern Ireland.
Spells as manager at Oldahm Athletic, Crystal Palace, Charlton Athletic, Coventry City, QPR and Hull City also included a period as assistant manager to Alan Shearer at Newcastle United.
His passion for football is unquestionable and his knowledge of the game has made him a respected member of Sky Sports commentary team.
Iain will be present throughout the 2011 Grass Roots Football Show.
Peter Taylor
Widely regarded as one of the top coaches of his generation, Peter Taylor, will be making a welcome return to the Grass Roots Football Show in 2011.
The former England caretaker manager and Under 21 boss, famous for giving David Beckham the England captaincy, will be running coaching seminars and clinics throughout the show.
Taylor is a big fan of the Grass Roots Football Show and will be making his third consecutive appearance at the event.
Grass roots football is something close to his heart having coached a local park side during his time as a player at Crystal Palace and during this time he was selected to play for England despite not playing in the top two tiers of the football league.
Tom Bates
Over the past 4 years Tom has become an expert in his field using a range of applied techniques to perfect the art of applied psychology helping athletes to channel mental & emotional capabilities and achieve maximum outcome in sport.
Tom's wealth of coaching experience in Sports Psychology & Coaching Sciences combined with training both National & International Senior and Youth team players within professional football has allowed him the opportunity to transfer cutting edge research into direct application for athletes across Great Britain, currently at Premier League Birmingham City FC.
Tom specializes in enhancing athletes mental and emotional performance states through creating, sustaining and improving supreme optimistic spirit and self belief.
Alfred Galustian
Alfred is widely regarded as one of the World’s Top Skills Coaches, over the past 31 years he has worked as a Technical Coaches Instructor at he French, Brazilian, English, Japanese, Australian Football Federations and top clubs including Bayern Munich, Newcastle United, Real Madrid and Arsenal. Alfred is currently Technical Skills Advisor to the Premier League.
Alfred is the Co-Founder and International Director of Coerver® Coaching and is a Global Soccer Ambassador for Special Olympics (The World’s largest Organization for disabled Athletes).
He will be the instructor on the NEW Coerver® Coaching Youth Diploma taking place in Bristol, London, Manchester & Dublin in summer 2011.
Andy Fairman
Played for Blackburn Rovers and Blackpool as a youth keeper, and was even selected for England schoolboy trails, but unfortunately at 5’6” was never going to be offered professional terms.
Attended college and university and graduated with a BSc (Honours) sports studies degree before moving to America to work with Major League Soccer Camps and Chicago Fire Soccer.
Currently a UEFA B coach and goalkeeper coach, and has completed his UEFA A GK Licence and is just waiting the final assessment in a couple of months.
Has worked at Chester, Blackpool, Preston North End and Blackburn Centre of Excellence. At the start of the season was appointed by Ian Holloway as 1st team GK coach at Premiership club Blackpool, and has worked on a daily basis with international keepers Matt Gilks and Richard Kingson.
During his 14 year coaching career Andy has produced and worked with 14 international keepers at all levels.
Glenn Robertson

Jerome John
Jerome has been the full time Academy Goalkeeping Coach at West Ham for over three years and works on a daily basis with the Youth Team scholars, Reserve Team goalkeepers and oversees the development of all the younger schoolboy keepers at the club.
He holds the FA Level 3 Goalkeeping Coaching Licence and was also a former West Ham trainee himself where he represented both the Youth and Reserve teams. Jerome had a very long and distinguished Non League playing career which included such clubs as Kingstonian, Billericay and Enfield.
Paul Elliott
Paul is an ambassador for Kick It Out, football’s equality and inclusion.
He began his career at Charlton Athletic in 1980, going on to play for Aston Villa and Luton Town, before becoming one of the first English players to play in Italy’s Serie A, turning out for both Pisa and Bari.
After a spell at Celtic, Paul became Chelsea’s first ever black captain in 1991.
Since retiring in 1993, Paul has worked as an ambassador for Kick It Out, and also as a broadcaster for Channel 4 and ITV. In 2003, he was awarded an MBE for his services to youth football and anti-racism initiatives.
Tosh Farrell
With a reputation as one of the country's most innovative coaches of young players, Tosh Farrell spent many years at Everton FC Academy developing some of the brightest young prospects in the English game including the likes of Wayne Rooney and Jack Rodwell in their formative years.
Described by Simon Clifford as being 'light years' ahead of other youth coaches Tosh returns to The Grass Roots Football Show for his fifth year and is bound to pack out both the Main Arena and the Grass Roots Football Theatre with his infectious delivery and great ideas.
Richard Beale
Richard Beale is making his debut at the Grass Roots Football Show this year. Having played professionally in the USA Richard returned to England playing with Telford United and Stafford Rangers.
He joined Birmingham City in 2002 working within the Academy department. Richard has a very strong player centred philosophy which encourages independent thought with a fierce passion for the game.
After working with various age groups he was asked in 2010 to work with the Reserve team which is the position he now holds.
Paul Horwood
Paul Horwood is making his debut at the Grass Roots Football Show this year. Paul is one of the youngest coaches currently working within The Centre of Excellence system at Southend United.
An FA and UEFA Qualified Goalkeeper Coach Paul is one of the four directors of The Soccer Hub. Paul believes that all Goalkeepers should strive for consistency and enjoy every aspect of what they do, then great things can be achieved.
Fun is the key to all Paul’s sessions and with that and a great professional attitude we can develop into great Goalkeepers. We look forward to having his goalkeeping expertise at the show this year.
David Johnson
David is making his debut at the Grass Roots Football Show 2011. At the age of 21 David became a FA and UEFA qualified coach and is currently one of the youngest registered academy coaches working in the schoolboy system. David has 8 years of experience working under Liam Brady at Arsenal Youth Academy where he was the technical coach for the 9-13 age group. David traveled extensively during his time at Arsenal taking his teams to play against the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid, Inter Milan and Ajax to name but a few.
In November 2010 David took the role of Head of Youth Recruitment at Southend United. He is responsible for identifying and developing young talent for the Southend United Centre of Excellence system.
David is one of the directors and head coaches of The Soccer Hub, the new and exciting coaching company which offers downloadable sessions for coaches of all levels.
Mark Rees
Mark is making his debut at the Grass Roots Football Show this year. Formerly a professional with Crewe Alexandra, Mark's playing career was cut short by injury whereupon Dario Gradi immediately recruited him to the coaching staff of the Crewe Academy. Having gained 4 years experience being responsible for the technical skills development for the u6's to u16's Mark was headhunted by Blackburn Rovers earlier this year. He is currently working across all academy age groups and is also involved in player recruitment.
A member of the new breed of coaches where the emphasis is heavily geared towards coaching young players to be confident and comfortable on the ball in any situation Mark has also been invited to deliver technical sessions at Chelsea and other clubs in Europe and Canada.
Outside of his work at Blackburn he runs his own coaching company in the North West where he coaches the sons of a number of Premier League stars.
Mark Meredith
Mark Meredith is making his debut at The Grass Roots Football Show 2011. Mark is 27 years old and is qualified to Uefa B license standard.
Mark has over 5 years academy coaching experience at Birmingham City and Derby County. Since July 2010, Mark has been Derby County Academy U12 head coach and head of U6,7 and 8 pre-academy development.

Team Bath Futsal Club
Team Bath Futsal Club was created in December 2007 by students at the University of Bath. It entered into the inaugural FA National Futsal League in 2008 and has been an ever present in the league since.
The University based side also competes in the British Universities and Colleges Futsal Championships and were runners up in 2009 and semi finalists in 2010 and 2011.
As a result of this success the team will be representing Great Britain at the European Univeristy Futsal Championships for the 2nd time in its short history when they travel to Finland this July.
In the National League (Midlands Division) this season Team Bath finished 3rd missing out on the National Play offs, something they hope to put right next season.
Currently, the club has several players playing within National FA Futsal Programmes for England.
The club is ran by students from the University and has 5 teams, 3 adult male teams, 1 adult female team and a male u16s youth team.
Next season the club will be adding a male u18s side to further develop its young players. The team today will have a mix of experienced and new players and are looking forward to this opportunity to play at the grassroots football show which will help promote Futsal and the club.
Team United Birmingham
Team United Birmingham was established in 2005, ever since the early days the club has been giving opportunities to young people from all background to play futsal at all levels.
Playing at local level was fun but the opportunity to play at national level and compete for a place in Europe was too great to miss so we started playing in THE FUTSAL PREMIER LEAGUE.
Having to to travel to Hull every weekend was hard but rewarding.
For the past four seasons we have played in THE FA NATIONAL FUTSAL LEAGUE where we have developed into one of the top teams in England.
