Get involved at the Grass Roots Football Show

As the full time whistle blows on The Grass Roots Football Show, we look back on some of this year’s highlights with some amazing player focused content …

With over 11,000 people in attendance throughout the three days, The Grass Roots Football Show was packed full with coaches, players and fans, all united by their love for the beautiful game.

For the thousands of footballers at the event, The Football League Community Coaching Arena and The McDonald’s Community Pitch were real focal points. Players of all ages and abilities were given the chance to take part in innovative coaching sessions ran by the likes of ex Manchester United Academy Coach Eric Harrison, England’s most successful Under 21 manager Peter Taylor and ex-Premier League player and manager Iain Dowie.

Alongside The Grass Roots Football Show’s resident ‘famous faces’ were some of the country’s most talented up and coming coaches. The likes of Mark Meredith from Derby County, Tom Bates from Birmingham City and Jerome John from West Ham showcased their knowledge and expertise to the packed out crowds in The Precision Training Arena and gave lots of our young visitors the chance to take part in training sessions throughout the three days.

In addition to this, there were loads of opportunities for players of all ages to get involved with the interactive games and challenges in The Feature Area. Visitors could take on their mates at The Kellogs Crossbar Challenge, attempt to beat the top score on the latest innovative training system The Soccer Matrix and even have a game of FIFA ’11 in The EA Sports Zone.

This year’s Grass Roots Football Show also played host to the Birmingham heats of the National Street Soccer Showdown. Players entered their own teams or joined up with others to take part in the fast moving 3 vs 3 tournament, which will see the winners competing in the finals at Wembley this summer.

Leading world football freestyler Billy Wingrove was at the show for all three days as he demonstrated his talent to packed out audiences in the Billy Wingrove Soccer Hub. Visitors were also given the chance to take part themselves as Billy taught players how to improve their own football skill and ability.

There were also lots of opportunities to meet some our famous football faces including Robbie Savage and Dion Dublin plus Sky Sports News presenters Vicky Gomersall and Charlotte Jackson, who were part of our fantastic line up of presenters keeping our experts on the ball throughout the three days.

So that’s it for another fantastic year at The Grass Roots Football Show – thank you to all those that attended and we look forward to seeing you back at The Grass Roots Football Show 2012!
