| Davies signs up to the Grass Roots Football LIVE Academy Experience |

Davies (23) has shot to prominence with a series of assured performances for Villa following his move from Championship club West Bromwich Albion earlier this season, culminating in a call-up to a provisional full England squad named by Fabio Capello. Yet it is only a few years ago that Davies himself was playing park football in London after he was released as a teenager by Wimbledon. Davies will be the official Ambassador for The Academy Experience, run in association with The Premier League & The Football League. This is where young players will be put through their paces in a 15-minute training session run by Pro Club Academy coaches. Davies joins a list of leading Ambassadors for the three-day event which also includes Portsmouth manager Harry Redknapp, former England manager Graham Taylor, Trevor Francis, Ray Wilkins, Tony Cottee and many more. Davies said: “I am delighted to become an official Ambassador for Grass Roots Football LIVE. “Grass roots football has generated a huge amount of debate recently and is a subject close to my heart. “I have very fond memories of when I was playing for my local junior club sides in North East London. “As a professional footballer who will always remember his roots it is vitally important that myself and my colleagues put something back into our sport. “This promises to be a great Show and I am really looking forward to attending the event and meeting up with so many people who do so much for football at grass roots level.” Over 15,000 visitors are expected to attend the three-day event which runs from Friday May 30 to Sunday June 1. A host of leading football managers, coaches and players will be in attendance throughout the weekend, with Stan Collymore unveiling his Mavericks five-a-side ex-professionals football team who will be playing a series of special challenge games. A talented list of England's leading football coaches will be running masterclasses in The MARS® Stadium and The Errea Coaches Arena. Coaching clinics will be held by former Liverpool Academy Director Steve Heighway, Crewe Alexandra Manager & Technical Director Dario Gradi, West Ham Academy Director Tony Carr and many more.
