Learn from some of the best coaches in the business
As the full time whistle blows on The Grass Roots Football Show, we look back on some of this year’s highlights with some amazing coaching focused content …

With over 11,000 people in attendance throughout the three days, The Grass Roots Football Show was packed full with coaches, players and fans, all united by their love for the beautiful game.
For the thousands of coaches at the event, the The Main Arena was a real focal point and busy throughout with all three seated stands packed to the rafters for the chance to see some of the game’s best coaches in close up coaching action.
Following on from his debut in 2010 and back by popular demand it was down to Iain Dowie to get the event started on Friday morning with a fantastic technical session on defending set pieces. Iain was then followed by England’s most successful Under 21 manager Peter Taylor, former Newcastle United manager Chris Hughton and England manager Graham Taylor who all gave inspiring coaching sessions, sharing their knowledge and coaching expertise in a number of technical sessions alongside various Q&A sessions in the The FA Theatre.
While the event played host to a number of ‘famous faces’, The Grass Roots Football Show is also a showcase for the a number of equally talented (if less well known) coaches and this year was no exception with Mark Meredith from Derby County, Tom Bates at Birmingham City and Jerome John from West Ham all delivering some of the most innovative technical sessions that drew huge crowds and providing fantastic new ways of thinking for our visitors.
In addition to this, some of the most thought provoking sessions were delivered by Coerver Coaching as they shared their vision for producing technically gifted young players and promoting the type of football as produced most recently by Lionel Messi and his Barcelona team mates.
With the increased demand for knowledge for speed and conditioning and fitness training, The Precision Training Arena was as popular as ever with some great sessions delivered by former Nottingham Forest centre half Steve Chettle.
Other highlights included some fantastic theory sessions delivered by Tosh Farrell and leading sports psychologists Bill Beswick and Tom Bates, whose sessions saw standing room only in The FA Theatre
And if that wasn’t enough to keep our coaches busy, the exhibition floor was packed full with some of the industry’s top suppliers showcasing the latest innovations in technologies, programmes and supporting materials for coaches of all abilities.
And finally, we mustn’t forget our fantastic presenters - BBC Radio 5 Live’s Darren Fletcher, BRMB’s Tom Ross and Sky Sports’ Charlotte Jackson and Vicky Gomersall – who were all on hand to keep our experts in check.
So that’s it for another fantastic year at The Grass Roots Football Show – thank you to all those that attended and we look forward to seeing you back at The Grass Roots Football Show 2012!
